title pic Can You Think Of Any Misleading Ads?

Posted by admin on 01/26/2010

I’m doing a project on misleading ads. Anyone have ideas on some ads that have been deemed misleading? I know of the recent Ribena ads in NZ as well as ads for slimming products in China. Anything in Singapore perhaps?

A:               All political ads. They’re pure B.S.
i.e.: Vote for John Smith, he’ll make more jobs, lower taxes, etc.
Nothing ever happens.
The sleeping one the breakfast was funny. It made me laugh for 15 minutes.

A:              Yeah any fast food commercials. They always show a larger version than what you actually get.

A:              The comercial for Special K says that if you eat it two meals a day with skim milk for two weeks, you can lose up to six pounds. My BUTT!!!! My mom and I both tried, and neither of us lost an ounce!

A:              KFC said its fried chicken was healthy and compatible with some weight-loss programs. The FTC nailed them.
Celebrex misled about the risks of the drug. They had to pull their ads

A:               trim spa! they used anna nicole smith as an example of how there product works. which we all know she had a personal trainer, and im sure some kind of surgery!

A:                 Any smoking or drinking ads. You’re not going to get the girl, or be cool, etc. if you smoke or drink. They want you to believe it’s the cool thing to do so they make money off of you

A:                watching a childrens channel with my kids, one ad from the clown stated that breakfast would be a good start for the day, “because after a full nights sleep, energy levels are low”. I couldn’t believe what i heard, i was really pissed. I emailed them a complaint, because kids don’t have the ability to know that that was a bs statement, and they shouldn’t have let that commercial air

A:               NV the diet pill- they use Carmen Electra as their spokes person or Trim Spa- Anna Nicole and most cigarette ads always show people thin, health and beautiful having a good time with a cigarette in on hand!

A:                Airticket prices…they are sometimes advertised for a very low price, but if you buy them you have to add all kinds of fees and taxes which bring the cost several times as high as the advertised price.

A:             Truth.com the people behind the anti smoking commercials. They use inflated statistics. They mention ideas cigarette companies have had in brain storming sessions but never seriously considered. Most of all they mention about 10,000 chemicals in a cigarette. Anyone who know basic chemistry know that if you change just one molecule or atom in a chemical it is going to have a different name. Why not say table salt is a explosive because it contains sodium which when mixed with water will explode.

A:              Nike – just do it.
I slapped someone cause of this add. they should add this
Nike – just do it.Then run away.

A:              Any oatmeal product stating that they lower cholesterol, a university study proved it. They don’t tell you that the people stopped eating eggs, and other high cholesterol foods in the morning for breakfast to make room for eating serial

A:              All of them, try asking for an honest advertisement. If they told you the truth, would you buy their junk?

A:                 Drugs for ADD, depression, etc.
They are telling you to ask for the drugs before the doctor diagnoses you?
That might be misleading.
